Lower Frequencies was born out of the motto, “keep it simple.” The universe, the world, the blogosphere, life—they’re all vast, unfathomably complex webs that defy comprehension or certain definition. Lower Frequencies is basic and definable—“one song at a time, one day at a time.” It’s that easy.

You can’t listen to Some Nights without thinking that Greenday and Queen may have gotten intoxicated at a bar one night, rehashed their teenage angst and then came together to create this Broadwayesque story of an album. Hey it may have happened if Freddie Mercury was still alive and Green Day hadn’t yet written American Idiot.
The obvious draw to this album are Nate Reuss’ powerful vocals along with his ability to let you sit back and envision the story he is slowly laying out in front of you. The lyrics are simple, the problems are those of the youth and the message is that you can and will overcome all of the speed bumps that life tosses your way.
If you’re of the Jay-Z school of thought “Death Of Autotune” then you might be opposed to it’s use on some of these tracks. Although I’m usually on that wagon I think that Fun. may have found a way to use the technique “correctly” as a way to creatively add to an already impressive vocal range.
It’s clear that Fun. has chosen that name on a reflection of their sound and over all message. They are exactly that. No more no less.
We Are YoungA great mix of hip-hop, electronic and indie rock with a special “laid back Sunday” track worth checking in on at least once a week.
