Adding Songs To The Site Player From Your Exfm Account Wed, Apr 24, 2013

There are many ways to use the Exfm Site Player. The most common way is to simply place it on your site and allow it to play all the MP3s, SoundCloud and Bandcamp embeds you’ve posted. But what if you don’t have any on your site? What if you want to load the player with songs from your Exfm profile?

The answer is actually simple. After creating an Exfm account and loving songs, simply add your Exfm username to the player script. Adding your username to the script will allow the player to load the songs from your Exfm profile directly. Visitors will then have a bunch of sweet jams to listen to as they browse your site.

Edit your Site Player script to look like this:

You can grab our Site Player here.

If you use Wordpress, you can install our Site Player as a plug-in. Add your username to the Wordpress plug-in by editing the script in the plug-ins section of your Wordpress admin page.

NEW: Improved Sharing Controls Wed, Aug 8, 2012

We recently rolled out some really nice changes to our sharing options. The exfm dev team did a stellar job making sharing silky smooth and easier than ever. While a lot of the changes were on the backend there are some front end improvments as well.

Here’s a run down:

  1. Rollover any share icon on exfm
  2. A new animation will appear showing you sharing options
  3. Chose the service you want. Click on it and share away

New Seamless Sharing to Facebook and Twitter:

  1. Now when you click share to Facebook or Twitter we take you directly to their service
  2. If you are already logged into Facebook or Twitter you’re all set to share, if not simply login to complete sharing
  3. Your track is instantly sent

We really hope you enjoy these improvements. We think it will make using exfm easier and more social than ever. Thanks much and happy listening.

If you follow someone and they are online listening it now displays in real-time. Clicking a name there jumps you to their profile page and displays their track in their profile header. You can even click on their Now Playing track and listen as well.

FEATURED FEATURE (Video): Edit Metadata

Bad metadata sucks. It’s no fun listening to “Unknown Artist.” We know it. You know it. Great news: You can easily edit metadata on exfm.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Rollover any Loved track to reveal the edit metadata icon.
  2. Click on the edit icon to bring up the global metadata editor.
  3. Enter any missing information or update incorrect info. Click Save.

Some important info (in other words please read!):

  1. You can only edit metadata on tracks YOU HAVE LOVED.
  2. The last person to edit a track will be publicly listed as the editor.
  3. Anyone can report an abusive editor via the report abuse link.
  4. Your account can be suspended for abusive editing.

This is something many, many of you wanted. We really are delighted to make it available. We’re counting on you to treat this tool with respect and to use it responsibly. Thanks for making exfm the best place to find music.
